The way Erik ten Hag approaches the preparation for Manchester United’s matches is the target of complaints in the locker room. The Dutchman is in the habit of holding tactical meetings that precede each game in an unusual way - they are usually extensive, from 30 to 40 minutes, and are repeated three or four times a week - a frequency that bothers and surprises the locker room. Even in episodes where the punishment is fair and the attitude is condemned by the majority, the lack of criteria is emphasised. Other players have committed indisciplines “of the same degree” as Jadon Sancho and did not get close to the same punishment. Many Manchester United players blame Erik ten Hag for the excessive amount of injuries this season. According to some, he makes mistakes in maintaining the same training load throughout the season, even if the accumulated fatigue is much greater in the final stretch. Exhaustive sessions, cancellation of days off and complaints about training have been relevant topics at United for a while.
